Aim

The SEWARTH HDSS aims to establish a sustainable system for understanding demographic dynamics, conducting health science research, and building capacity to tackle emerging public health challenges. The specific objectives of the HDSS are:

Objectives

  • 1. To facilitate monitoring of demographic dynamics, including population growth, migration patterns, fertility rates, mortality rates, and population age structure.
  • 2. To collect data on health indicators of public health interest, as mutually identified by the partners, in order to gain insights into the burden of diseases, emerging health issues, risk factors, social determinants of health, and trends in health outcomes over time.
  • 3. To identify public health challenges that are specific to the region served by the HDSS site.
  • 4. To support the development of research capacity by engaging researchers, healthcare professionals, faculty and students in conducting health science research.
  • 5. To potentially provide valuable evidence that can inform health policy and planning based on the data collected and research conducted within the HDSS site.
